Agabus Pwanagba, Jos

A group under the aegis of Goemai Youth Movement (GYM), has called on the members of the Plateau House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency lift the suspension of the former Deputy Speaker Hon Johnbull Shekarau,, or face further protest that may disrupt the activities of the house.

The Students who came out in their numbers on Friday staged a peaceful protest at the premises of the Plateau House of Assembly.

The former National President of National Association of Nigerian Students NANS Comrade Prince Miaplen who led the protest told journalists that they wanted to know the reason for the suspension of the former Deputy Speaker.

He argued that the suspension of the lawmaker was a calculated attempt by some cabals in the House to frustrate Goemai representation.

“The suspension of Hon. Johnbull Shekaru is illegal, for the next two week, the Goemai people will not be represented, that means some cabals in the House are against the interest of Goemai Nation”. He lamented

The Students who blocked the road leading to the assembly complex for over an hour, were carrying placards with inscriptions, ” Stop political persecution, stop illegality, this is envy, suspension is unconstitutional and “enough is enough” among others.

It would be recalled that the 23 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, had on Wednesday suspended Hon Shekarau for what they alleged as gross misconduct.
