ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Former Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has been appointed as the new Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Oloyede, until his appointment, is the Secretary General Nigeria Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). He recorded many landmark achievements while serving as VC of UNOLORIN.
President Muhammadu Buhari also sacked 16 other Chief Executives of Parastatals and Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education and authorized their replacement.
A statement by the Federal Ministry of education said the appointments are with effect from Monday, august 01, 2016.
The 17 agencies affected and the new Chief Executives are:
National Universities Commission (NUC) – Prof Abubakar adamu Rasheed
Nigerian Institute for education Planning and Administration – Pro, Mrs. Lilian Salami
Universal Basic Education – Dr. Hameed Bobboyi
National library of Nigeria – Prof Lanre Aina
National Examinations Council – Prof Charles Uwakwe
National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal education – Prof Abba Aladu
Nomadic education Commission – Prof Bashir Usman
National Business and technical Examinations Board – Prof Isioma Isiugo-Abanihe
Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria – Prof Sunday Josiah Ajiboye
Computer Registration Council of Nigeria – Afolabi aderinto
National Commission for Colleges of Education – Prof Bappah Aliyu
Tertiary Education Trust Fund – Dr. Abdullahi Bichi Baffa
National Teachers Institute – Prof Garba Dahuwa Azare
Libarian Registration Council of Nigeria – Prof Michael Afolabi
National Mathematical Centre – Prof Steven Ejugwu Onah
Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB – Prof Ishaq Oloyede
National Institute of Nigerian Languages – Prof Chinyere Ohiri-Aniche
Those retained are;
Nigeria Educational Research & Development Council – Prof Samaila Junaidu
Nigerian French Language Village – Prof Rauuf Adebisi
National board for technical education – Dr. Mas’ud Kazaure
National Arabic Language Village – Prof Muhammad Mu’az

May God help us in Nigeria with the way we waste resources not only money. In opinion, many of these parrastals can be combined and that will not only safe money it will also safe other resources such as office spaces, buildings, staffing, computers and other things necessary for any agency to function effectively, if we can mention effectiveness as a sine qua non for any agency in Nigeria. It is a surprise for us that were educated in Nigeria in the sixties and early seventies up to secondary schools education levels and had a very enviable educations as demonstrated by our performances in overseas colleges and universities without all these duplication and redundancy been available in Nigeria then. Let me make some suggestions from my ignorance and see how much resources and money we can safe. Why can’t we do the following: A. Combine 1.Universal Basic Education, 2. Nomadic Education Council, 3. Nigerian Institute for education planning and Universal Education together. B. Combine National Examination Council with JAMB. C. Combine Commission for College of Education 2. National Teachers’ Institute 3. National Education research & Development and Administration. D. Combine National French Language Village and National Arabic Language Village. E. Combine National Library of Nigeria with Librarian Registration of Nigeria. F. Combine National Business & Technical Board of Nigeria with Computer Registration Council. As we can see we will have six instead of seventeen different bureaucracies. That is why it is very frustrating and it is a bureaucratic nightmares trying to do any business registration in Nigeria.
