Orji stated this Thursday when a delegation of political leaders from Obingwa Local Government Area of the state paid him a courtesy visit in Umuahia.

The Governor, reiterated his earlier stand for power rotation between the two blocs, while responding to the demand by the delegation for power to shift to Abia South Senatorial District.

He explained that the arrangement would conform with the provisions of the Abia Charter of Equity, which prescribed rotation of power between the two blocs.

His words: “What I want to do is to enthrone equity and fairness in order to remove rancour and bad blood in the polity.

“I was not sleeping when I said that power must shift, I meant what I said.

“I don’t want to leave office and there will be bloodshed, that is not my vision for Abia,” Orji said.

Orji, therefore, enjoined the people to align themselves with the spirit and letter of the Abia Charter of Equity.

He commended the people for the current political unity in the area and called for its sustenance before, during and after elections.

In his remarks, spokesman for the group, Mr Thomas Nkoro, had thanked the governor for supporting the agitation for power shift and appealed to him to ensure that power moved to Obingwa in Abia South Senatorial District.

The group also applauded Orji for transforming the area through provision of basic infrastructure and health facilities in the state.
