Ayuba Waba Emerges New NLC President

Dr. Ayuba Waba has been elected the new National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Comrade Waba who is a member of the Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWU) as well as the immediate past NLC treasurer, was declared winner Saturday, as he polled a total of 1, 695 votes as against his closest rival and the first runners up, Comrade Joe Ajero of the National Union of the Electricity Employees, who garnered a total of 1, 140.
A total of 3,119 delegates were accredited for the rescheduled election, which Comrade Ajero claimed was again manipulated.
It would be recalled the NLC February 12, Conference election was disrupted, on account of alleged irregularities by the electoral committee, prompting the reschedule of a fresh exercise to hold on March 12, 2015.
