Mrs. Josephine Oluseyi Williams, former Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Finance is now the 17th Head of Service of the Lagos State Public Service.
Williams, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), holds a Bachelor of Science (B.SC Hons) degree in Accounting from the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science.
She started her career in the Federal Civil Service as Accountant Grade I on GL 09 with effect from 15th February, 1980 at the Federal Housing Authority.
She later joined the Lagos State Civil Service on transfer in 1985 as Chief Accountant on Grade Level 14 and acted in various capacities in the Ministry of Finance before her deployment to the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning as Director of Accounts.
The new Head of Service was appointed the State Auditor-General in June 1994, a position she held till 1995 when she was appointed as the State Accountant-General.
Between 1996 and 1999, Mrs. Williams was seconded to the Lagos State University, Ojo as the University Bursar but was recalled to the post of the State Accountant-General in June 1999, where she was until 2001 when she was re-designated as Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office. She was deployed to Ministry of Finance as Permanent Secretary in February, 2006.
Williams, a Chartered Accountant succeeds Mr. Adesegun Olusola Ogunlewe who is retiring statutorily by age as the Head of Service having served the State meritoriously for 34 years.
