Cameroonian’s Soldiers Killed 50 Boko Haram Insurgents Borno Counter Attack

About 50 members of the dreaded Boko Haram group were Wednesday killed in clashes between them and Cameroonian soldiers in the border town of Fotokol, in Borno State, North Eastern Nigeria.

Cameroon’s Information Minister, Issa Tchiroma confirmed to a local daily, L’Oeil du Sahel, that six casualties were recorded on the soldiers’ side, in the escalation which started early Tuesday, when the insurgents launched an early attack on the town.

The Minister disclosed that the figures released were still provisional, as he noted the actual might be more.

The newspaper reported Wednesday that Boko Haram militants in the attacks killed several people in the Fotokol town, as well as slit the throats of several others inside Mosques and at homes.

Tchiroma said he was still awaiting the official report from the Cameroonian’s Defence Ministry.
