As the entire globe including Nigeria, celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu state, has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of the season to renew their commitment to the promotion of the values of tolerance, brotherhood and unity among all groups in the country.
The Governor who stated this in a Christmas message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Barrister Chukwudi Achife, said the celebrations offered Nigerians the opportunity to reflect on God’s love and compassion for mankind as epitomised by the gift of his only begotten son for the salvation of mankind.
He noted that such reflection would help Nigerians understand the need to respect one another’s rights especially, the right to life and peaceful co-existence with neighbours.
Chime, stressed that his administration has taken concrete steps to ensure that the citizens and visitors to the state, enjoyed the celebrations without hitches.
He therefore, enjoined citizens to eschew any act capable of undermining the joy and hilarity of the celebrations.
