Abakaliki Nigeria, African Examiner – The Ebonyi state police command has nabbed a 33-year-old man, whose name was given as Monday Nweke, for allegedly defiling a 5-year-old girl at Amuda community in Ezza South council Area of the state.
According to the security operatives, the suspect was said to have lured the victim to an abandoned jeep in the area and defiled her.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO George Okafor,who confirmed this to newsmen Thursday in Abakaliki, disclosed that the matter was reported to the police by the community Youth President, Uchechi Elechi.
The victim was rushed to the Ezzambgo General hospital, Ohaukwu LGA by sympathisers, as her parents for whatever reasons failed to report the matter to us.
“This however, didn’t deter us from going after the suspect, as he would not go unpunished for committing this heinous crime.
“We are convinced that God would definitely punish him for wickedly defiling an innocent five-year-old girl.”
The PPRO, advised parents to always report such matters to the police without fear of molestation, exposure or stigma, as the command would always respond positively to them,
“We also urge the public to always give us relevant information that would assist us nip various forms of crime in the bud.”Okafor pleaded.
