Former ECOMOG Commander, Gen Joshua Dogonyaro Is Dead

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Lt. Gen. Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, former Field Commander of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).

Lt. Gen. Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, is dead at the age of 80.

According to available information, he died in Jos on Thursday morning from an undisclosed ailment.

Apart from his ECOMOG assignment, Dongoyaro is known as having read the coup speech which announced the overthrowing of General Muhammadu Buhari and the welcoming of General Ibrahim Babangida on August 27, 1985.

He was born on September 12, 1940 and he was a member of the “Langtang Mafia” that dominated the Army during the General Ibrahim Babangida regime.
