Impeachment: One Killed In Ekiti Pro-Fayose Protest

By Akin Soneyin, Ado-Ekiti – The impeachment drama of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, recorded a major casualty Tuesday as a pro-governor Protester was killed by unknown gunmen in Efon Alaaye.

Identified as Modupe Olaiya, the protester, our source in Ado Ekiti, the State capital, indicated was shot dead, as he and others resisted the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) from entering the State capital to proceed on the move to sack the Governor.

The impeachment saga took an amazing level Monday, when members of the ruling PDP in the State, were led by Deputy Governor,   Mr. Kolapo Olusola; former Speaker,   Tunji Odeyemi; the Governor’s Special Assistant on Information,   Lanre Ogunsuyi, as well as Public Communications and New Media aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka, with the Police to block the State House of Assembly entrance so as to prevent the 19 APC lawmakers from gaining access to the premises.

The APC legislators led by Dr. Adewale Omirin, has been at loggerheads since last year with Governor Fayose, a development which has paved way for many constitutional breaches, such as screening and confirmation of Commissioners, SAs and passing of 2015 budget by six PDP lawmakers.
