Nasarawa CP Declares the State is Peaceful, Confirms Attack on Legislator’s Sibling

The Nasarawa Police Command has debunked the rumour that the state is under siege.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris confirmed to the newsmen at a briefing today in Lafia, the state capital, confirming that the state was peaceful and calm.

Our Correspondent in Lafia reported that Idris however confirmed attack against the sibling of a state’s lawmaker, Hon. Muhammad Malaku, by some youths.

Prelude to CP’s confirmation Thursday, the anti – Al – Makura legislators relocated from the state’s House of Assembly complex in Lafia to Karu Local government area near Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday, for their plenary session on the speculations on the threat to their lives.

The lawmakers reportedly at yesterday’s session announced their opposition to the membership of the seven – man investigative panel to probe allegations of sleazy practices against Governor Al – Makura. The reverse has however drawn criticism from the national body of the state ruling party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) which described the House’s demand as “unreasonable and unconstitutional”.
