Newly Promoted Immigration Officers in Enugu Decorated with New Ranks

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The sixty two out of the sixty-three newly promoted Senior officers of the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have been decorated with their new ranks.

Speaking weekend during the colorful ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Independence Lay Out, Enugu, the State Comptroller of Enugu NIS, Joachim Olumba, described their elevation as a recognition and reward for hard work and diligence.

He added that it is also as a result of their significant contributions to nation-building through their work in NIS.

The Enugu State Comptroller disclosed that the large number of Senior Officers promoted in the command in particular and the Service in general was borne out of the fact that it was the firm conviction of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, (MFR) that promotion or career mobility remains the greatest incentive to any workforce.

According to him, the recent promotion of over 2,150 Senior Officers in the whole of the Service was an unprecedented gesture which will boost the morale of the beneficiaries and culminate in greater commitment and higher productivity.

The Enugu NIS boss therefore, enjoined the newly promoted Officers to exhibit more sense of dedication and commitment to duty, as according to him, “to whom more is given, much is expected.”

Olumba,  was categorical in his charge to them to surpass the very high expectations of the management of Nigeria Immigration Service, the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board in considering them deserving of promotion by displaying the highest sense of devotion to duty, integrity, honesty and respect to Fatherland.

Our correspondent reports that the beneficiaries included 4 Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration; 6 Assistant Comptrollers; 10 Chief Superintendents; 7 Superintendents; 2 Deputy Superintendents and 33 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration.

The only Deputy Comptroller of Immigration promoted to the rank of Comptroller, Dr. Okoro Nwaeze who is the Officer in-charge of NIS at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, had earlier been decorated alongside his contemporaries at the Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja.

Responding on behalf of her colleagues, the most senior of the newly decorated officers, (DCI) Chinenye Lucy Emelumadu, expressed delight over their promotion.

She thanked the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede for finding them worthy of elevation, even as she expressed gratitude to God Almighty who made it possible for them to be honoured with their new ranks.

Emelumadu, assured the NIS Management, both at State and national level that they will never let the Service down as they are totally determined to live up to expectations.

She expressed gratitude to all family members, as well as the special guests for not only being part of the memorable event, but for all their support.

Present at the occasion were officers from the Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC,  Nigeria Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service 103 Battalion  of the Nigeria Army, among others.

Some of the newly decorated Officers include DCI Hope Chukwudebelu Maduka, DCI Aminu Okoliko Idris, ACI Charity Obiageli Owu, ACI Maureen Uju Obidigbo, ACI Ifeoma Obi and ACI Chibueze Ebere Amaeze.
