NIMASA Donates Educational Relief Materials, Other Items To Enugu Govt


(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, (NIMASA), Friday, donated assorted Educational Relief  as well as Small and Medium Enterprise SME materials valued several millions of naira to the Enugu State government.

 It explained that the educational materials  is aimed at assisting the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration in the advancement of education as well as encouraging SMEs in the state.

Presenting the items which were attracted from the agency via a member of the National Assembly (NASS) and member, Representing Nkanu East/ West federal Constituency of Enugu state, Hon. Nnoli  Nnaji, Director- General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Yusuf, Jamoh, said the gesture is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

He stated that the food items which includes rice, Beans, salt, groundnut amongst others, is aimed at assisting the state government in providing  succour for Internally displaced persons, IDPs in the state.

The NIMASA boss, who was represented at the event by a Director in the Agency in charge of  public Private Partnership PPP, Mr. Kelvin Ogbuanu, said the organization has a culture of visiting states across Nigeria that have been ravaged  by different types of  crises, including communal, ethnic and flood disasters.

According to Jamoh, the federal lawmaker, “attracted the project as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility from NIMASA.

He however,  noted  that this was the first time, Enugu state was benefitting from the   NIMAS’s CSR.

He said “henceforth, we will make sure that the state benefits from our agency’s CSR, just like other states have been benefitting” he promised.

Responding shortly after receiving the items, on behalf of the state government, the state Deputy governor,  Mrs.  Ceceilia Ezeilo, had expressed appreciation to the NIMASA DG  and Hon. Nnaji, for the kind gesture.

She assured the Agency that the items would be distributed fairly and for the purpose they are meant for.

In a brief remark, Hon. Nnaji, who is the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, and also a member of the committee on NIMASA, expressed appreciation to the Agency for listening to him.

He said the gesture was part of his responsibility as a representative of the electorate who gave him the mandate to serve to ensure that the people have a feel of government, and share of democracy dividend.

“I will do my best to make sure that we are not left out again just as our governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi did when he was in the Agency ,  as a member of the Federal House Of Reps.

Our Correspondent reports that items handed over to the Enugu state Emergency Management Agency ESEMA,  were, educational materials, assorted food items for Internally displaced persons, IDPs and machineries for the advancement of Small and Medium enterprises  SMEs, Tricycles, otherwise known as (Keke Napep), Motorcycles, among others.
