Overhaul The Nation’s Aircraft To Avoid Air Disasters —Reps, Community Leader Tell FG


(AFRICAN EXAMINER) –  Mr Taiwo Kolawole, a Member Federal House of Representatives at the National Assembly has pleaded with the federal government to overhaul the nation’s aircraft to curb the recurrence crashes.

Kolawole said this in an  interview  on Saturday,  reacting to the recent plane crash that claimed the life of the nation’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and other security personnel.

“It’s an unfortunate incident and we condole with the family of the COAS and other victim’s families, may God give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“At the same time, government should look at the aviation sector and find solutions to whatever challenges that’s causing the crashes because it is now becoming recurrent,” he said.

Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi, the Executive Chairman, Agege Local Government in his reaction, also appealed to the government to find lasting solutions to incessant crashes to avoid future occurrences.

“We sympathise with the victims families and we pray that God Almighty give them eternal rest,” he said.

Mr Johnson Babatunde, the Executive Chairman, Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos state, appealed to the government to be proactive in the aviation sector and overhaul the aircraft to avoid recurrence.

Babatunde said that government needed to look inward and ensure the aircraft undergo necessary maintenance and focus on the loopholes that might cause most of the crashes.

“This is quite unfortunate, it is a tragedy that befall the country, if a man who is concern about his fatherland die in active service, it is a great loss to the country.

“Government need to look inward and overhaul some of these aircraft to ensure they undergo necessary maintenances and look at the causes of these crashes.

“My sympathy goes to the families of the victims may God give them the fortitude to bear the loss,”  Babatunde prayed.

Chief Olayinka George, the Baale of Karaole in New Oko-Oba area of Lagos State, also told  our correspondent. Reacting that the federal government needed to take proactive measure in solving the disaster.

George added that the nation was losing more heroes to the incessant crashes which does not portend good name for the country.

“We need to be very careful as a country, the government should be more proactive in solving this occurrences of plane crashes involving our soldiers.

“Government should provide enough protections for our soldiers in active services to encourage them tackle the current security challenges facing the country.

“Nigeria will be great, I am sure of that, but the government need to do the needful to ensure the safety of the security personnel and the entire citizens”.

Mr Olabowale Kasunmu, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA in Lagos, also appealed to the government to be more proactive in tackling the challenges facing the aviation section involving the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) aircraft.

“This incident is becoming too often, we want the government to look into this directions and find urgent solution to the tragedy.

“We cannot continue to lose our combatant soldiers to this menace of plane crashes, so government should  find solutions to it,” he said.
