Pantami: Nigerians Blast Atiku For Keeping Quiet

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has come under fire on social media for not speaking against the extremist views of the embattled communication minister, Isa Pantami.

Atiku Abubakar, who is renowned for always contributing on national issues has remained silent on Pantami’s radical preaching and ties with terrorist groups.

Although the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have reacted by calling for the sack of the minister but many of the party leaders particularly from the North have kept mum on the matter.

This development has sparked social media reaction as many noted that top government opposition figures in the North like Atiku are sacrificing matters of national importance for political and religious expediency.

The African Examiner gathers a few of their thoughts below:

IFA FUNSHO@funshographix writes: “Nigerians should remember that Tinubu and Atiku are major sponsors of Buhari in 2015. Don’t campaign for Atiku by calling Tinubu names. Don’t campaign for Tinubu by calling Atiku names. Except you have mental problem.”

Agara sariki festus@AgaraSariki writes: “They are all birds of the same feather flocking together. The north is in one come rain or sun.”

Nwachinemere milky #endsars@Michael99789284 writes: “They are all United in the islamist extremist agenda.”

adewumi lawal@hadeywumee writes: “They have a common goal to promote and protect the hegemony of the North.”

Albarka@Rishama1 writes:  “God bless you. You’ve got it right: Politicians are more interested in getting into power than speaking for the sake of the people they want to govern.”

NgoziChukwuka@ViengeOfficial writes: “For fear of loosing their ill gotten wealth. If they speak, their wealth will be threatened by the Govt. So they choose to keep mum. Which is a reflection of their conceited nature.”

kenth omoregie@kenstine writes: “They have to be cautious. The north is still heavily religious and ethnically aligned. If Atiku and Co, have any political ambitions come 2023, they better stay away from APC government toxic waters. The party can do the talking. Elections time is when key players are needed.”
