PDP Loses Another Stronghold, Benue To APC

From Abdul Abdul Gafar Bello – Again, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) one of its strongholds, Benue State, North Central Nigeria in the last Saturday Presidential and NASS polls.

APC won the State with little margin as it polled a total of 373,961 as against the PDP which scored total 303,737 votes.

There are 23 Local Councils in Benue State, which is the home of the Senate President David Mark. Results announced by the State Presidential Election Collation Officer, Professor Hayward Mafuyai, in Makurdi, the State capital, Tuesday indicated that the ruling party won in 14 while the opposition won in nine Local Councils.
