PDP Warns Opposition Not to Drag Jonathan into Impeachment Saga

The ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the opposition not to drag President Goodluck Jonathan into the ongoing crises in their states.

In a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, PDP stated that the travails currently befalling some All Progressive Congress (APC) Governors were self-inflicted.

Apparently reacting to the alleged financial inducement by President Jonathan to impeach Governors in APC – controlled states, Metuh said the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie – Oyegun was wrong to have accused Mr. President as the brain behind the move to impeach the opposition Governors during a press conference in Abuja last week.

Former Adamawa state Governor, Muritala Nyako was impeached last Tuesday by 20 out of 24 state legislators on alleged financial misappropriation. His Nasarawa state counterpart’s fate Umaru Tanko al – Makura is currently hanging in balance as similar notice has been served on him late last week, though the Governor aides till Monday have denied ever been served.

In a related development, former Governor of Lagos state Governor and APC leader, Bola Tinubu has called on the National Assembly not to approve President Jonathan’s $1 billion external loan request, describing the request as “dubious”.
