Police Woman Arrested in Delta For Killing Husband


By Ignatius Okpara, Asaba – The Delta State Police Command has arrested a policewoman, simply identified as Sergeant Helen for allegedly killing her ex-husband, Kelechi Aririguzo, also a Police Officer.

AFRICAN EXAMINER gathered that the deceased was killed when he visited Helen’s residence at Umuokwe community to see his daughter.

Our Correspondent learnt that late Kelechi, once married to Helen, but they later separated due to unresolved domestic differences.

The marriage was blessed with one daughter, before it went sour.

Helen was said to have raised alarm on sighting Kelechi, shouting that he was a thief who had come to kidnap her daughter.

A Source who witnessed the scenario explained that alarm raised by Helen attracted the attention of youths in the neighborhood, who immediately gathered and attacked Kelechi with various objects, which later led to his death.

Immediately the youths and residents realized Kelechi had given up the ghost, they all took to their heels and deserted the vicinity, out for fear of being arrested.

An eye witness who craved anonymity said “I feel that his decision to visit his daughter infuriated her.

“Kelechi has lived in this neighborhood over the years before he was transferred outside the state, he just came into town a day ago and decided to see his daughter who is living with Helen after their separation”.

The Delta Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the policewoman, disclosed that the suspect and her accomplices were now in the police net.

She said the Command would carry out full investigation into the criminal act.
