Presidency Distances Self From Alleged Missing 2016 Budget Bill

The Presidency has distanced itself from the mysterious missing of the 2016 proposed budget bill, from the upper Legislative Chamber.

News report filtered Tuesday that the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume was quoted as saying that the budget document could not be found where it was kept in the Senate Chambers. Ndume however denied ever saying such, maintaining that no budget document was missing.

Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garaba Shehu in his reaction, declared that “Nobody except the President can withdraw the budget. As far as we know, he hasn’t done that”.

“The copies in their hundreds have been delivered to both chambers of the National Assembly.

“By tradition, once the budget is submitted, it ceases to be our property.

“Enquiries as to where it is should be directed to the appropriate quarters” Shehu defended.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has since met with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa on the strange development.
