Sultan Declares September 12 As Eid-Kabir Day

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The President of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III has announced that the Muslims will mark this year’s Eid-8Kabir onMonday, September 12, 2016.
The declaration followed the confirmation by the National Moon Sighting Committee that Saturday, September 3, 2016 is Zhul Hijja (12th Lunar month) 1, 1437AH.
Similarly, a statement issued by the Chairman, advisory committee in the Sultanate, Alhaji Sambo Junaidu, the moon sighting was confirmed, hence, the confirmation of Monday as the Eid day.
The Sultan’s declaration was after the moon sighting and confirmation by the committee.
The announcement tallies with Saudi Arabia Kingdom which has equally declared September 12 as Sallah day while Arafah (Hajj rite) is Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Meanwhile, Sultan has congratulated the Muslims in the country and wished them a blissful celebration.
