In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja ,the
group’s coordinator,Jasper Richard said the commendation became
necessary to encourage the minister and his team not to relent in
their efforts to fix Nigerian roads.
“We have many problems in Nigerians. When a public official do
something right,we should commend them ans ask them to do more.
If we continue to condemn our officials even when they did well,we
risk total collapse of the system“,Mr Richard said.
According to him,the ministry of works was able to fix Abuja Okene
road,Ore road and many others before the yuletide
celebrations,adding “we are happy about that accomplishments.
“We also see relationship between the successful rehabilitation of
those bad roads and the reduction in deaths and accidents rate
recorded by the road safety.If the roads were not rehabilitated as
promised by the minister,accidents rate would have been more
during the celebration” the coalition said.
The group however agreed that much still need to be done even as
it opined that rehabilitated roads may not last due to the heavy duty
load passing through it every minutes.
“The minister is trying within available means but the final solution
is to develop our rail system which is now gradually picking up” the
