Acting NFF President Umeh Defies Minister’s Order; Stays Back As Maigari Resumes

As Nigeria heeded the World Football governing body –  FIFA to reinstate the sacked President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari, the embattled glass house resumed on Monday but not without mild drama.

Report coming from African Examiner’s FCT Correspondent indicated that Maigari had expected to resume, with his office vacated by his ex – Vice and till last Friday when the Sports Minister, Tamuno Danagogo directed the reverse of his sack, the Acting President, Chief Victor Umeh, ironically stayed back, leaving tongues to wag, especially as he (Minister) has confirmed last week that the NFF and other members of the football family in Nigeria have agreed that Maigari should return to office.

Despite this, African Examiner could not immediately confirm what lead to the confusion.

Danagogo  announced last Friday to journalists in Abuja the reinstatement of Maigari who was shown the way out after returning from the last world cup tournament in Brazil on account of financial misconduct and his resumption today.

The Minister also confirmed Maigari’s tenure was expected to last till August 26, when the electoral committee conducts new election that will usher new glass house EXCO.

Umeh was disqualified last week by NFF alongside Chief Segun Odegbami and Taiwo Ogunjobi from contesting the body’s Presidency.
