Jonathan Happy With Super Eagles For Reviving Hope Of AFCON Qualification


President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has congratulates the Super Eagles of Nigeria “on their dogged and hard-fought victory over the Red Devils of Congo in Pointe Noire.”

Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat Congo on their home soil 2-0 to revive their chances of finishing the group in second place which is good enough for them to qualify for the 2015 African nations cup.

In a statement issued in Abuja and sent to African Examiner, “President Jonathan applauds the Super Eagles’ patriotic, determined and very courageous display in front of a very vociferous, aggressive and partisan home crowd which earned them an emphatic 2-0 victory”

The president assured the Super Eagles and their handlers that they will have the fullest possible support of the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria for their final qualification match against South Africa next week in Uyo.

A win against South Africa in Uyo will earn the super eagles a qualification for the 2015 AFCON games.

South African has already topped the group and has qualified for the nations cup leaving Nigeria and Congo, which will play Sudan in their final match, to battle battle for second place in the group.
