ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged his support to the Nigerian team at the coming Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil, especially through prompt release of budgeted money for the squad.
Mr. President made the promise Tuesday at the formal Handing over ceremony of RIO 2016 Olympic Games delegation and his traditional Investiture as Grand Patron of the Nigeria Olympic Committee in Statehouse, Abuja.
Despite his pledge, President Buhari in line with the frugal principle of his administration, cautioned the delegate on accountability and judicious use of the budgeted money.
He equally directed those who did not have any input in the activities of the squad members to stay back in Nigeria, join other Nigerians and watching and cheering the team to victory at home.
However, he advised the athletes and officials to be dedicated and good ambassadors of the country all through their stay in Brazil.
