Arms Deal: FG Files Fresh Application For Revocation Of Dasuki’s Bail

The Federal Government (FG) has filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja, an application demanding revocation of bail granted the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. (retd) Sambo Dasuki.

Counsel to FG, Mr. Oladipo Ogbeseyi, Thursday his application, requested Justice Adeniyi Ademola, to set aside the ruling earlier delivered on November 3, 2015, in which Dasuki’s application, seeking permission for his international passport to be released so as to travel abroad, for medical attention, was granted.

The accused Counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji, Dasuki in opposing the new application, argued that the existing appeal on the respondent’s (FG) refusal to the previous ruling was still pending for determination. Raji subsequently requested the court to grant brief adjournment, for his client to prepare response to the application.

The prayer was granted, making Justice Ademola to announce the next hearing, being fixed for Tuesday, December 8, 2015.

Former NSA to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan has been embroiled in the controversial arms deal estimated at $2.1 Billion. He was quizzed by the DSS operatives. Sambo, after being placed under house arrest, was this week moved to the EFCC for a full blown investigation on the shady arms transactions. Alongside his present travails, Sambo had once threatened that Nigerians would be shocked when he opened up.

The threat has apparently been evident in the arrest of a PDP Chieftain, Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, former DSS DG, Mr. Kayode Are and some key officials of the security outfit in connection to the deal.
