The Nigeria Bar Association, Ikeja Branch has condemned the recent bombing and setting ablaze of the Ahoada East High Court in Rivers, describing it as “pure intimidation of the judiciary.”
The President of the association, Mr. Monday Ubani Esq. who stated this on Thursday during a press conference in Lagos demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of the persons behind the attack”.
“This is pure intimidation of the judiciary and should be condemned by all and sundry. Not only do we seek condemnation by all we demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of the persons behind the commission of this heinous crime.” He insisted.
On the proposed national conference, Mr Ubani stated that the, “the Branch demands a sovereign National Conference whose modalities, representation processes and what will happen to the outcome should be well spelt out by an Act of the National Assembly.
“Whatever is agreed at the conference table shall be subjected to a referendum of the people and if agreed upon becomes a new constitution for the efficient running of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He also condemned the clear breach of laws by the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah over the car scandal and the recent certificate scandal and called on President Jonathan to sack her.
