Enugu To Host 2024 NNL Super 8 Competition, Winner Will Pocket N5m

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The governor Peter Mbah led Enugu State government has agreed to host the 2023/2024 edition of the Super eight competition of the Nigeria National league (NNL) in Enugu, with Champions smiling home with a trophy and N5 million price money at the end of the week long soccer fiesta.
Chairman of NNL Mr. George Aluo, accompanied by the League’s Head of marketing, Chinedu Oha, disclosed this to Sports writers Monday evening in Enugu.
He said: “We are really grateful to the Enugu state government for granting all the requests we made regarding this competition, So, this year’s Super eight by the special grace of God will be fantastic and solid” he assured football fans in the country.
According to him, the competition would commence on 23rd through 30th, May 2024 for the final games, with eight clubs participating, revealing that already, four clubs have qualified in the tournament which is organized under conferences arrangement.
The Journalist turned sports Administrator said “This is the first time in the history of NNL where price money will be given to champions at the end of Super eight competition, it has not happened before”
He applauded governor Mbah and the State Commissioner for Youth and sports Barrister Lyod Ekweremadu for the gesture, stressing that the nation’s second tier league remains vital in the development and promotion of the round leather game called soccer in the country.
The league he posited, serves as a veritable tool and bridge between the lower clubs and the Nigeria professional premier league NPFL.
Aluo, equally thanked the Nigeria Football Federation NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for providing the enabling atmosphere for handlers of the NNL to operate, adding that the current transformations being recorded in the league is as a result of the conductive space they enjoy.
“The era when people write off the NNL, some say it is all about cash and carry and winning at all cost was over, as the league is now solid and very very proactive” the Chairman stated.
