Lampard in Line With a Shock Return to EPL With Manchester City

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard could be in line for a shock return to the Premier League with Manchester City.

The England veteran looked to have quit English football when he joined MLS side New York City FC last month.

Lampard left Chelsea at the end of last season after 13 seasons and a club record 211 goals.

But the MLS season doesn’t start until the New Year and Lampard has been left in limbo until then.

Now it has emerged the 36 year-old is weighing-up a short-term deal to join Manuel Pellegrini’s champions.

Lampard, who was once a target of Manchester United, is keen to keep playing before he starts his two-year deal in America.

He has several options on the table, including a move to Australian A-League outfit Melbourne City on-loan.

But it is understood he is reluctant to head Down Under because it would make it impossible to see his two daughters Luna and Isla on a regular basis.

Returning to the Premier League to star for Pellegrini’s men on a short-term loan deal would solve that problem and appeals to Lampard.

He is now mulling over what to do before making a decision within the next week.

New York City FC are part-owned by City and the close links between the two clubs could see a deal pushed through.
