Audu Limun, Bauchi – Police corporal on Thursday shot the Commanding Officer (CO) Mobile police unit, 10 PMF Bauchi, Superintendent of Police (SP) Chris L Eza while on routine Visit at the Stop and Search Point along Ahmadu Bello way in the state.
It was gathered that the Corporal was recently demoted to regular police and the Commanding Officer, Mopol sighted the corporal at the check point with Mobile Police uniform and asked him to go and remove it and wear the regular police uniform but the corporal refused to change the uniform; hence the Commanding Officer asked the corporal to give him (CO) his rifle but the officer was said to have vowed to open fire at CO if he advances towards him and Eza moved towards the officer who opened fire at Eza.
However, a source whose house is located at the Ahmadu Bello way said he heard two loud gun shots but he could not go out to see what was happening but the next day morning he heard that a corporal shot O C Mopol.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Bauchi State Police Command, DSP Mohammed Haruna said “on the 26/2/2015 at about 23:20hrs,the Victim was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi where he was certified dead by a Medical Doctor and Corpse deposited at the Motuary for postmortem examination.”
He said: “Scene was visited by the Commissioner of Police Mohammed K Mohammed and his management team.
Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and detained while the Commissioner of Police has ordered for a full scale investigation into the matter.”
African Examiner gathered that the late Mopol commander served as former aide-de-camp to Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.
