The three million-strong Nigeria- American diaspora in the US has been urged to help kickstart strong economic ties between the two countries.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in New York with gathering of Nigerians in diaspora, business and religious leaders, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Relations informed the crowd on proposed partnership with the National Assembly on a new policy to cater for the needs and inclusiveness of Nigerians in Diaspora.
Dabiri-Erewa promised Nigerians that the administration of President Buhari will kick-start economic growth and modernize Nigeria by building much-needed infrastructure and removing bureaucratic hurdles to business.
Her message has stirred hope among large numbers of Nigeria-Americans, students, friends of Nigeria and young professionals, many of whom watched from afar with frustration as Nigeria’s economy slowed and corruption scandals dominated the headlines in foreign media.
La Guardia Plaza Hotel venue of the event thundered with applause as hundreds rose to their feet and celebrated her speech.
She also used the occasion to challenge Nigerians in America to invest in Nigeria, advising them to set up a committee to help in building the bridge to success.
