The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, MFR, has condemned in its entirety, a story credited to him by an online medium, that he (Emir) endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) gubernatorial flag bearer, Sen Simeon S Ajibola.
The spokesperson of the monarch and Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Salihu Woru Mohammed described the story as grossly irresponsible, concocted, inciting and an attempt to drag the Emir into partisan politics.
Alhaji Woru while reacting to the story in Ilorin, said the Emir as a father of all political parties in the state could not slam his door against any political party, saying that reception of any political party in the palace did not mean endorsement.
The Magaji Nda who said the story was unethical, therefore advised Journalists to follow the ethics of their profession to the letter and do away with inciting stories capable of causing confusion as the 2015 general elections get nearer.
He added that the action of Magajis Forum in the Emirate which identified with the present administration in the state, was borne out of the government’s monumental achievements, stressing that not even the Emir or anybody compelled them to do so.
He therefore, appealed to the people of the emirate to disregard the story, saying that the Emir had neither endorsed any candidate nor approved any political party.
It would be recalled that the PDP governorship flag bearer, Sen Simeon S Ajibola visited the Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari during the weekend in his Palace where the Emir reportedly described “the emergence of Senator Simeon Ajibola as PDP Governorship Flag Bearer in Kwara as sign of good things to come to the State.
