Lagos Bank Robbery: Fashola Vows To Apprehend Robbers


Ayo Balogun – Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has vowed that the armed robbers who raided a bank in Lekki area of the State on Wednesday will be apprehended.

Three policemen and a girl were gunned down by robbers on Wednesday as they robbed the First City Monument Bank and carted away huge sums of money without being apprehended.

Fashola, who spoke in Lagos when he inspected houses damaged by rainstorm in Agege area, appealed to residents not to panic over the bank robbery that occurred in the state, saying “very soon, the robbers will be apprehended and prosecuted immediately.”

The governor was extremely displeased over the incident said, saying that “We lost three police officers and a citizen.”

“For us that is an unusual experience. We are already searching for the perpetrators. And I can assure the residents of Lagos that we will find them (robbers). And we will bring them to justice immediately.”

On the victims of the windstorm, Fashola stated that over 150 persons have been relocated to the Igando Relief Camp where they would be provided with shelter.

“And after the buildings have been rebuilt, they will come back to their houses. And in order to ensure their quick return, we have deployed our artisans from the technical colleges to re-fix the roofing sheets and others.

“This was a natural disaster-windstorm but we shouldn’t forget that we have just left the dry season and the rain season has set in,” he said.
