Iyabo’s Love For Shame
By Odimegwu Onwumere
Published: March 31, 2007
The nature of a woman is aplomb. She is amiable, consistent, adorable, and meek and makes
sure that peace reigns in any environment she is, when the men are going gaga or exhibiting
might in the wrong direction to each other. She hates corruption, which is one of the man’s
pedigrees of rubbish characters after she made the man derail in the heaven-like-garden in
Eden. And I have loved women so much for those features for several years except in recent
times some women have taken to the wrong definition of the feminist agitation of “Gender
equality”, and come short of the glory of my love.
Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello is among those women who have come short of the glory of my
love, because she is not behaving like a woman. She has abandoned the features of a woman,
paralleling with the men in the dogged way. Some of these women behave inhuman than
human. They are not even behaving like the men that they are struggling to equal, but
something older than the first child of a vampire. There is no iota of shame in the face of Iyabo.
She has thrown shame to the dustbin. Women are known to be shameful when they are
attacked or exposed to the public glare. That is why it’s very seldom, if not hard, to see a
madwoman that is walking naked on the road, the madwoman must be provided with clothes
by other sane women, for cover.
Iyabo has messed-up, Iyabo that I loved so much? She does not want to draw her handwriting
on a resignation letter after Everest allegations of corrupt practices are traced to under her
carpet. She does not even blink; let alone crying. She is even stoical asking journalists not to
enter her office, as her father also did in his Otta farm?
Iyabo is stonehearted, resilient, in the wrong direction. She is seeing resigning from the office
too hard a thing to do? Just as her father, Chief Olusegung Obasanjo, would rather prefer to go
on exile than forgive his enemies?
Iyabo does not know that I was in love with her and that the mammoth allegations against her
are even rumpling stomach, causing fever to me. I wish Iyabo can make up her mind and
resign. Her sit-tight posture in the senate does not worth it. Her decision is in the wrong
direction. She should stop listening to those self-crowned sycophants who are bent to wrong
advice for their selfish interests.
Iyabo is so beautiful, like a threatening star of heaven walking on earth. Her beauty should also
reach her mind. Iyabo should resign quickly, so that my fever could heal. Does Iyabo not know
that she is a woman? She should stop behaving like a man who can go naked in a street and at
the same time walk the same street ten times a day without being ashamed. Can a woman go
naked on the street? Maybe, because of “Gender Equality”? I still have love for women, but not
those who behave like Iyabo!
