NDLEA nabs German, four others for drug trafficking

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a German and four
Nigerians at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for drug
trafficking. The five suspects were arrested between Wednesday, January 23 and
Saturday 26, 2008. Four of the suspects ingested the drugs while one concealed it in a
false bottom of luggage.

The suspects are Nwankwo Mike, 40 years, a Nigerian that naturalized as a German,
Okorie Ndinojuo, 42 and Agha Timothy Anayo, 34. Others are Oduaga Daniel Ogugua, 43
and the only female, Sanni Olayinka Toyin, 46 years. The NDLEA Airport Commander,
Mr. Victor Coleshawers disclosed that the airport is equipped with x-ray machines,
itemizers and sniffer dogs. “Any passenger that carries narcotics to this airport will be
arrested because of the sophistication of our gadgets and the highly experienced officers
here,” Coleshawers stated.  

Nwankwo Mike tested positive for ingesting hard drugs during the screening of
passengers on Bellview flight from Lagos to London on Friday January 25, 2008 at about
0930 hours. Mike who ingested 74 wraps of narcotics claimed that a friend in Germany
asked him to deliver the drugs in London for a fee of 2,000 pounds. He lives in Neuss,
Germany and works as a warehouse man. He is married to a Nigerian.

Agha Timothy Anayo was arrested on January 23, 2008 at about 2045 hours during the
outward screening of passengers on Alitalia flight from Lagos to Milan. Timothy ingested
77 wraps of cocaine which he intended to take to Milan for a fee of 3,000 Euro. He came
to Nigeria for his marriage ceremony from Italy.

The third suspect Okorie Ndinojuo of number 9 Iweka Road Onitsha blamed his
predicament on joblessness. He was nabbed on January 23, 2008 during the boarding of
KLM from Lagos to Amsterdam. Okorie ingested 92 wraps of cocaine for a fee of 3,000
Euro.

Oduagu Ogugua of No 16  Adisa Bashua Street, Surulere Lagos ingested 48 wraps of
cocaine which he attempted to export to London on Friday at about 2300 hours. Daniel
hails from Nafia Njikoka LGA, Anambra State. He said that he would have been paid
2,000 pounds upon successful delivery.

Sanni Olayinka Toyin a mother of two who resides at Freeman Street Ajah, Lagos was
nabbed on Saturday January 26, 2008 at about 1500 hours. She was found to have
concealed 5.5 kilogrammes of cocaine in a false bottom of her luggage. Toyin was to
board Emirate flight to London when she was caught.
Meanwhile, all the suspects are under investigation and will soon be charged to court
