Nyako  Returns To  Adamawa Government House
Defeats Bapetel, and all powerful Atiku’s Machinery.
By Our Correspondent
Published April 27, 2008

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has again declared the candidate of
the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako the winner of
Saturday’s governorship in Adamawa state.

With this victory, Nyako has made nonsense of the all powerful Atiku’s political platform and
machinery in the state.

The breakdown of the election showed that Nyako scored 361,729 votes while AC’s Ibrahim
Bapetel polled 201,767 votes. The results also showed that PDP candidate defeated Action
Congress (AC) candidate in wards and local governments area of both Bapetel and Former
Vice President Atiku Abubakar, an area considered to the strong hold of the AC.

AC candidate and his supporters have described the election as another charade from (INEC),
while PDP supporters took to the street to savour the victory.
