Angry Residents Beat 3 Police Women To Stupor, Stripe Them Naked

Some angry residents in Ikpoba – Okha council area of Edo state on Wednesday beat three female police officers to stupor as well as strip them naked.

Our Correspondent gathered that the battered police officers, whose identities are yet unknown are currently nursing their injuries in an undisclosed hospital in the state.

An eyewitness told newsmen that it all started when the officers were invited by a landlady in the area to arrest one of her female tenants over a misunderstanding that ensued between them.

According to the source, problem ensued when the tenant insisted on taking her bath before going to the police station but the police officers vehemently refused.

The tenants descended on the police officers when they made attempt to force their co-tenant to follow them to the station.

However, the landlady, who gave her name as Mrs. Okebuse, said she invited the police because she had given the tenants quit notice but she refused to pack out of the house.

“When the police came to make arrest, they started fighting the police. I ran for my life and hid in the other compound.”

Another source said the landlady is known for using police to harass her tenants.

“The woman was taking her bath and the police officers refused to allow the woman to take her bath”, the eyewitness said.
