Bayelsa Gov Poll: Isoko Indigenes Back Dickson

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Indigenes of Isoko ethnic nationality, resident in Bayelsa State have thrown their weight behind the second term bid of the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson.

They said their support to Dickson followed series of joint meetings and elaborate consultations.

President of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Bayelsa State chapter, Idama Michael, and General Co-ordinator, Isoko Solidarity and Support Group for Seriake Dickson 2015, David Ekah, stated this in a joint statement on Wednesday after their meeting in Yenagoa.

The Isoko indigenes described the governor as a man with sterling leadership qualities.

They said that he had in his first tenure in office recorded monumental achievements and as such he deserved to be supported for re-election on December 5.

They said they would come out in their numbers to support and vote for Dickson and the Deputy Governor, John Jonah.

The Isoko indigenes said they would carry out mobilisation and sensitization on the need for all Isoko residents, especially those in possession of their Permanent Voters Card (PVCs), to participate actively in the election.

They vowed to continue with the mobilisation exercise “till the election is held on Saturday, December 5 2015”.

“We wish to add that the victory of Governor Dickson under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a victory for the Ijaw race worldwide and a victory for all patriotic sons and daughters of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria”, they added.
