Featured, Latest News Tuesday, January 6th, 2015
From Ganiyu Nasirudeen, Abuja – Despite confirming the withdrawal of their soldiers from the Multi-National Joint Task Force, (MNJTF) the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshall, Alex Badeh, maintains both Niger and Chadian Republic remain among the anti – insurgents’ composites Force.
Badeh made the disclosure Tuesday in FCT Abuja while fielding questions from the newsmen after a security Chiefs meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan and four Northern Governors – Adamawa, Borno, Kaduna and Yobe States.
He specified that both Niger and Chad have withdrawn their troops from Baga, Borno – the MNJTF base, which came under fierce attack last Saturday by the suspected Boko Haram militants.
CDS explained that the true picture was that the two countries have not deployed their troops to the base, despite the presence of their officials in Nigeria.
It would be recalled the MNJTF base was attacked and dislodged by the suspected insurgents last weekend. Military sources confirmed the invasion as well as fierce engagement with the terrorists.
