In Enugu, Ayogu Eze Emerges Winner Of PDP Parallel Guber Primaries


By Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – Senator Ayogu Eze representing Enugu North senatorial District has emerged winner of a parallel governorship primary election of the ruling peoples Democratic party PDP held in Enugu on monday.

Before the Eze group went into the parallel exercise held at Filbon Hotel Enugu, the lawmaker, and four other PDP Aspirants had met with the election panel from Abuja to register their displeasure of the alleged alteration of the original delegate list.

Aside Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the four other Aspirants, had complained that the November 1st authentic and certified list of the Enugu delegates were tampered with by the PDP leadership in the state.

Addressing the Aspirants, chairman of the primaries in the state,Mr. Asara. A. Asara, had advised the aggrieved gladiators to channel their grievances to the National secretariat of the party.

He added that there was nothing the panel could do at the moment, saying “our primary assignment in Enugu state is to conduct a free and fair PDP governorship primaries.”

However, Senator Eze, polled a total of 536 out of the 661valid votes cast at the parallel primaries to emerge winner.

Meanwhile, voting is still ongoing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, venue for the other state primary election where the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC are observing the exercise.

Also present at the stadium includes, governor Sullivan Chime, Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, among other top PDP stalwarts in the state.
