New CP Vows To End Plateau Killings and Violence

The new Plateau State Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, resumed duty on Tuesday vowing to make the state uncomfortable for criminal elements.

He promised to partner with other security agencies to end the spate of killings and Sectarian violence in the state. Oki spoke on Tuesday in a maiden press briefing with newsmen in his office in Jos.

“I will make the state uncomfortable for a criminals. I am also aware of the frequent clashes between the Fulani and natives in the state.

“We will ensure that lasting peace is restored to the state. My men and I will do everything possible to dialogue and ensure that there is lasting peace in the state and that the people learn to live peacefully with one another.

“We will also tackle crimes and robbery to its barest.  Adding that, “We have also mapped out strategy to ensure a crime-free society.”

While soliciting the support and cooperation of the citizenry, the new Police Commissioner noted that law enforcement agencies could not work effectively without the support of the people.

The new Police boss is taking over from Chris Olakpe, who retired as an Assistant Inspector General of Police recently.
