Rivers Rerun: Police Dismiss Death Claim By PDP, Insist Election Peaceful

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Rivers State police Command has dismissed allegations by the peoples Democratic party PDP that three of its members were killed in parts of the state during today’s (Saturday) rerun election in the state.
The Command spokesman, Ahmed Mohammadu, said the rumours were untrue and unfounded.
The PPRO, urged members of the public to ignore the speculation, insisting that the elections had been peaceful and calm.
Meanwhile, the state Governor, Nyesom Nwike of the peoples Democratic party PDP, has expressed displeasure over what he described as poor conduct of polls by INEC.
He alleged that the exercise was characterised by anomalies.
Similarly, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has debunked rumours by the PDP that the All progressive Congress APC imported fake result sheets into various election centres.
