*Soldiers Stop Police from Transferring Arrested APC Thugs
About 20 corps members were said to have been held hostage by Niger-Delta militants at Ekowe police station in Southern Ijaw LGA.
Soldiers on election duties at Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on Sunday stopped police from transferring APC thugs arrested with guns.
The thugs are believed to be working with an ex militant leader, Africa, who is from Olugbobiri.
Meanwhile, security personnel escorting electoral materials to Opuama, Eniwari, Ekowe, Egbomotoru one and two were overpowered by armed thugs and all electoral materials taken away.
According to reports, Eniwari community was also invaded by heavily armed thugs, who fired sporadically into the air.
As the materials had been hijacked, INEC officials were seen forcing their adhoc staff, including the corp members to travel back to various units around 6:30’pm to conduct elections. For details, NYSC State Coordinator can be reached on: 08035508109
