Police Constable Kills Graduate During Fisticuff with Girl Friend

A police constable shot dead 30-year old Moses Murtala Aminu, a first class graduate of Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Aminu was said to have left his family residence last week Sunday to attend a party at Barnawa. One of his close friends disclose that the said police constable identified as Alex Okpe was beating up his girlfriend outside the venue of the party and when Aminu tried to help the girl, the police man got angry and pulled out his gun from his jeans trousers and fired straight into Aminu’s heart.

According to an anonymous eyewitness, the police constable then fired again in the air twice to scare the people around and escaped on his motorcycle after he shot the victim.

As friends and sympathizers were trying to revive Aminu, a guy informed them that he knows a friend to Okpe’s girlfriend who had left the party for a club called X-One at Barnawa,”

The girl friend identified the policeman who killed Muri as Alex Okpe, and that he serves at Kakuri Police Station but deployed to guard Nigerian Brewries Plc. Okpe was later tracked down and arrested by officers from Barnawa Police Division after the case was reported there.

Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Femi Adenaike, confirmed the incident, arrest has been made and Alex Okpe has confessed to killing Murtala Aminu at a party venue in self defence.

The commissioner assured that justice will be done, in his words, “The suspect is in the cell and we have commenced investigation. And if he is found guilty, we will give him an in-house trial and summary dismissal so that he can face the law for homicide,”

The Victim is survived by a blind father who has accepted the death of his son and bread winner as an act of God.
