Appeal Court Nullifies Oni’s election

The Appeal court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has nullified the election of Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti
State ordering fresh elections in 10 local government area.
Fayemi had gone to the appeal challenging the ruling of the election tribunal.
Already, chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have begun mobilizing their
resources and supporters boasting that the party will again defeat the Action Congress (AC) whenever the
bye election is held.

The Appeal court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has nullified the election of Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti
State ordering fresh elections in 10 local government area.
- The governor is to vacate his seat immediately and hand over
to the speaker of the state house of assembly.
- Reports say the venue of the ruling was heavily guarded by
armed policemen to prevent out break of law and order by
supporters of both sides.
- The judgment consequently rubbished the ruling of the
election tribunal which earlier declared Governor Oni as the
winner, a decision that was rejected by the Action Congress
candidate Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Fayemi had gone to the appeal challenging the ruling of the election tribunal.
