Group Condemns Abduction of Osun Public Servants

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned the abduction of three staff of Osun State Government last week Friday and appealed to the Federal Government (FG) to expedite action on steps aimed at alleviating poverty in the country

The group in a statement issued in Lagos Sunday by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said its thoughts go to the victims’ families as well as stand by them in the hour of despair and pray for the early and safe reunion of the victims with their families.

MURIC also commiserated with the government of the State of Osun. It however appealed to those behind the kidnap to consider the travails of the State of Osun against the background of the “transparency and simple life style of the state Governor”.

“If it is true that most kidnappings and armed robberies are acts of reprisal by the poor against oppression by the rich and influential people, attacking Aregbesola’s officials is, indeed, a paradox. Men of the underworld are known to have certain moral principles, rules, regulations and general guidelines for their operations…” MURIC noted.

The organization called on the public to don their prayer gowns from this moment for the innocent officials and pray for their early and safe release.

The Osun State officials were returning from an official assignment in Abuja last week Friday, when the kidnappers struck between Obajana and Lokoja in Kogi State. Those kidnapped included the state’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade, the Director, State Audit, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko and the Driver, Mr. Oladapo Ajani Arogundade.
