Mu’azu, NWC Members Head For Show Down

Fresh crises have started brewing within the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following the breakdown of confidence among members of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

This is based on what many of the NWC members described as the unbecoming attitude of the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on party matters.

The new development is coming less than four months after a gang up by the NWC members saw the erstwhile National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur eased out of office.

Newspot Nigeria can report that financial matters, alleged lack of openness by the PDP National Chairman as well as the ignominous treatment he has allegedly been meting out to NWC members are the roots of the current tension at the PDP National Headquarters.

Some NWC members who spoke in separate chats with our correspondent disclosed that no NWC member at the moment commands a strand of respect from the Chairman who they complained is fond of treating them shabbily.

The NWC members, among sundry complaints, said the former governor of Bauchi State hardly stays in the office while he is alleged to be very elusive to most of them even when important party matters were waiting for his attention.

Mu’azu, Newspot Nigeria was told, had at different times treated key members of the NWC like personal aides who he often dismiss at will allegedly, even when they all crave to get his attention on party matters.

The National Secretary of PDP, Professor Wale Oladipo, the National Treasurer, Alhaji Buhari Bala, National Auditor, Alhaji Adeyanju Adewole and the National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Olisa Metuh, according to reports have been the worst affected among all.

Two members of PDP National officers confirmed that Olisa Metuh had even been dressed down severally by the PDP National Chairman, citing an occasion when Mu’azu asked him to “Get out of my office” in a fit of anger.

An NWC member disclosed that Metuh was so distraught about the attitude of Mu’azu towards him that he had to communicate his aversion to such treatment through text messages.

Fresh Crises Loom In PDP, As Mu’azu, NWC Members Head For Show Down

The most affected NWC members, Newspot Nigeria learnt, have not been complaining aloud because of the alleged ignoble roles some of them played in ousting Bamanga Tukur, now being regarded as a saint within PDP.

The PDP Chairman was also accused of not allowing meetings of the NWC to hold regularly, as the aggrieved members disclosed that even when the meetings held they hardly lasted more than 30 minutes.

Mu’azu, Newspot was told, has not signed a single cheque since he assumed office, while he preferred the salaries of staff at the PDP National Secretariat to be paid by hand.

He is alleged of failing to render account on the huge amount of money, which has been flowing in the direction of the party from different sources including the Presidency, NNPC and the top three pro-PDP private companies in Nigeria based in Lagos.

Alhaji Mu’azu, NWC members also complained, has formed the habit of keeping guest waiting for hours without a justifiable reason, while he would end up not attending to anyone in some cases.

Notwithstanding, the PDP National Chairman is said to have very soft spot for women, given the prompt attention he often lavished on those who visit his office to the chagrin of people around the office.

What the NWC members found most offensive, according to those who spoke with Newspot Nigeria was the harried manner he shared the Easter largesse offered by the party’s main financier for the Easter Celebration.

Mu’azu, on taking delivery of the Easter largesse, reportedly gave each of the NWC members the sum of $27, 300, while their deputies got a paltry $2,700 each.

He was reported to have embarked on a private trip on a chartered flight to Dubai for the Easter holiday without intimating any of the NWC members about the trip.
