Incredible: Mad Dog Eats Up  4-month-Old Baby in Delta State


By IGNATIUS OKPARA, Asaba – An alleged carelessness by a 37 year old housewife,identified as Mrs. Maureen Akowe, in Asaba Delta State has thrown the family into sorrow and mourning, as she allegedly lost her four-month-old baby to her wild dog.

Mrs. Akowe, a graduate of sociology from the Delta State University, Abraka, had last Saturday driven the baby in her car alongside their nanny and the giant dog to a popular supermarket along Okpanam Road, Asaba, where she had gone for shopping for the baby’s upkeep.

It was gathered that the unsuspecting nursing mother left the baby, her nanny and the dog inside the car and wound down the windows to allow ventilation into the car before moving into the supermarket.

while she was busy shopping, the dog allegedly attacked  the little baby inside the car, eating her up while the nanny screamed for help but all to no avail.

However, our Correspondent learnt that the shouts by the nanny attracted two security personnel at the supermarket to the car,but before they could open the doors of the vehicle, the baby,identified as Chinonso, had been bitten severally on the stomach by the wild dog, leaving the baby in a pool of blood.

The baby was immediately rush to a nearby hospital along Nnebisi Road.

But unfortunately, before they could get to the hospital, the baby, which is the woman’s first child, had already died.

Narrating what happened to newsmen on Saturday, the Nanny,  said,“Madam asked us to stay inside the car, because the dog was to be treated at the veterinary; suddenly, I saw the dog moving closer to the baby and I shouted for help, when the dog opened its teeth. I ran out of the car to call madam but she did not come on time”.

Reacting, to the sad incident amid tears, husband of the woman, Mr. Akowe, said “my wife said it is the devil’s work, and that devil’s work will take her out of my house”

“I have warned her about the dog when I noticed that the dog had been behaving funny, and she still kept carrying the dog, claiming that she was going to give treatment to the dog.

” This is how the devil had ruined her.” Mr. Akowe declare
