Not Yet Time For Igbo To Produce Nigeria’s President – Umahi

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, says that the South-East will produce Nigeria’s President one day but not in the 2027 elections.

Umahi, who stated this in a statement, appealed to people of the zone to rally around President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He was reacting to an online publication titled, ‘The Politics of Asphalt: Why is the South East Missing from the Map?’.

The minister stated that the report is misleading and inaccurate, as he added that the publication aimed to portray the administration of President Tinubu as sidelining the South-East when it comes to infrastructure development.

“I understand that politics is now in the air and the chosen path by some persons is to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, look good before the people as one fighting for them and close both eyes pretentiously over the great and selfless infrastructure development Mr. President is doing all over the nation,” the statement reads.

The former Ebonyi State governor stated that he has directed all the regional directors of the Ministry of Works to go back to the site across the country to gather inherited but ongoing projects and new projects for Nigerians to understand the “huge works” that President Tinubu is doing, even though he didn’t get any votes from the south-east.

Umahi also disclosed that President Tinubu is using “fair distribution of infrastructure to reunite Nigerians and renew their hope”, adding that “only those who open their eyes will see the light of change in Nigeria”.
