(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Students of Microbiology Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK Awka, Anambra state, Nigeria, were thrown into deep mourning on Monday, over the death of a 300-level student, Tochi Martins Attah, who reportedly slumped and died while playing football on campus.
It was learnt that the tragic incident took place at the Elmada Hostel premises in Awka.
The deceased, fondly known among his peers as T-Funds, was the younger brother to Dr. Simon Attah, the incumbent chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
It was also gathered that the late student had recently made a switch from Microbiology to a medical course before his untimely death.
As at the time of filling this report the UNIZIK management was yet to make any official statement on the unfortunate development, just as the Anambra state police public Relations officer PPRO, SP, Tochukwu Ikenga’s cell phone was not connecting.
However, president of Useh Youths, Engr. Sabastine Aku, confirmed the incident in a statement on behalf of the Attah family and the deceased community.
The statement expressed deep sorrow over the loss and called for prayers and support for the grieving family.
