PDP Crisis: Ex-Enugu APC House of Assembly Candidates Woo Governor Mbah To Join Party

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The 2023 House of Assembly Candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Enugu state have urged the state Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah of the crisis-ridden People’s Democratic party PDP to join the ruling APC and link them to the national political grid, saying its members are tired of playing opposition politics in the state.

 Addressing newsmen on Monday in Enugu under the platform of Forum of ‘2023 House of Assembly Candidates, All progressives Congress APC Enugu state’, the group pointed out  that playing opposition in the state has done more harm than good to them.

Our correspondent reports that the call came barely 48 hours after some stakeholders of the APC in the state under the banner of Progressive Group led by the immediate past state  chairman of the Dr. Ben Nwoye endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Peter Mbah as their consensus  Candidates ahead of the 2027 general polls.

Barrister Godwin Onwusi, Coordinator of the Forum who ran for Udi North state constituency in the election, spoke on behalf of other candidates during the  press briefing.

He disclosed that they have already forwarded a letter to the governor requesting him to join the APC for the betterment of the state.

The group drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state, in their statement read to Journalists by the coordinator averred that having watched the governor for just a little over two years, since he  assumed office as the Governor of Enugu State, they came to the conclusion that his visionary leadership and development oriented policies align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They expressed optimism that his entrance into the APC will not only give it the strength it requires to win election in Enugu state but also make the State more friendly with the Federal Government, with its attendant benefits.

“With all humility and respect, we the undersigned APC, Enugu State, House of Assembly candidates during the 2023 general elections hereby passionately plead/appeal to you to favourably consider joining our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Having watched you for just a little over two years, since you assumed office as the Governor of Enugu State, we have come to the conclusion that your visionary leadership and development oriented policies align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

The group posited that “the quantum and unprecedented developmental strides you have brought to Enugu State within a short period of less than two years have actually renewed the hope of Ndi Enugu that, after all, government can work for the people.

“Your Excellency, we have no doubt that your entrance into the APC will not only give it the strength it requires to win election in Enugu State but also make Enugu State more friendly with the Federal Government, with its attendant benefits.

“We look forward, Your Excellency, to happily receive you. Note, Your Excellency, that the undersigned are not the only ones, amongst us, eagerly waiting to receive you, but those available at the time of writing this letter”
